Welcome to the Association for Parivartan of Nation’s Legal Assistance page! As a not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to advancing the vision of a just society and promoting a vibrant and inclusive democracy firmly grounded in respect for the rule of law and justice for all. Our organization works tirelessly at the intersection of advocacy and litigation, providing essential legal assistance to vulnerable sections of society.

Our Mission: Empowering Vulnerable Communities

1. Providing Legal Assistance to Marginalized Sections: We extend a helping hand to Adivasis, Pasmanda Muslims, Dalits, PVTGs, OBCs, students with disabilities, economically weaker sections, survivors of Sexual & Gender-based Violence (SGBV), torture victims, displaced communities, and other affected groups. Our goal is to ensure their rights are protected, and justice is served.
2. Connecting Clients with Probono Legal Practitioners: Through our vast network of skilled legal practitioners, we identify and refer clients in need of litigation support, ensuring they receive adequate representation and support throughout the legal process.
3. Monitoring Ongoing Litigation: We closely track and offer support for ongoing litigation in domestic courts, addressing critical issues pertaining to the rights of displaced communities and other vulnerable groups. By doing so, we aim to create lasting systemic change and promote social justice.

Strategic Litigation for a Better Society

As the Association for Parivartan of Nation’s Legal Assistance, one of the cornerstones of our work is filing strategic litigation. Our primary objective is not only to protect and improve the delivery of welfare schemes but also to promote the principles of good governance, fight against corruption, and ensure the proper implementation of rights-based legislation. Additionally, we champion causes related to the environment, child welfare, communities, and workers, advocating for their rights and seeking justice.

We recognize that protecting welfare schemes is crucial in ensuring that the benefits and support provided by these initiatives reach the intended beneficiaries. As an organization dedicated to advancing justice and promoting a just society, we employ various strategies to safeguard and enhance the delivery of welfare schemes.

Article 39-A of the Indian Constitution mandates that the State must provide free legal aid to every citizen, regardless of their background. Despite this constitutional obligation, the India Justice Report of 2022 has revealed a troubling trend. The number of Legal Aid Service Clinics has drastically reduced from 14,159 in 2020 to a mere 4,742 in 2022, indicating a significant gap in access to justice for many vulnerable individuals.

Unfortunately, overcrowding in prisons has also escalated, reaching 130% in recent times, a substantial increase from 120%. Of particular concern is the fact that 77% of the inmate population consists of undertrial prisoners, highlighting the urgent need for effective legal aid and representation.

In the face of these challenges, the Association for Parivartan of Nation’s Legal Assistance strives to make a tangible impact on society. We firmly believe that justice should not be a privilege but a fundamental right, accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic background. Through our dedicated efforts, we aspire to bridge the gap in legal representation and advocate for a fair and equitable society.
